Organizational History

The history of the materials in the Black Performers News Clippings is largely unknown. There is a postscript on boxes two and three that says “Institute of Research.” The materials may have been used as course reserves materials for the former Theater Arts Library or Arts Special Collections. The Theater Arts Library and Arts Special Collections were merged in the 1980’s to create what is now known as the Arts Library.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of three archival boxes with news clippings arranged in alphabetical order. Clippings include biographical information on actors and actresses, film/ movie reviews, television reviews, and theater reviews.
